THE CREATOR
Alessandro Mendini was one of the most important Italian architects of the past Century.
In Seventies, he created and joined important cultural movements and research groups, such as Global Tools and Alchimia. He founded the Postmodern Design Theory and introduced the new Ordinary Design concept. Among his most important architectures, we remember the Paradise Tower in Hiroshima, the Groningen Museum, the Hannover’s Busstop, the Town Hall’s Chalets in Naples, the Mendini’s Gallery in Lörrach, the Neubau Medienzentrum in Hannover, the Lovere’s Civic Library. He also worked in architecture and design magazines: he directed Casabella, Domus and he created Modo and Ollo. He was a consultant to various companies, such as Alessi, Bisazza and Swatch. He was awarded the Compasso d’Oro in 1979, in 1981 and 2014.
